MoCA ( Multimedia Over Coax Alliance) Technology has been around for a few years but is beginning to pick up more attention as people want a more reliable, faster, and more secure home network. MoCA works with a home's existing coax cable wires along side any cable TV service without any interference. MoCA can provide the fastest available connection to multiple devices throughout the home. It offers more security than a wireless network. It's the easiest way to setup a wired network in the home since the wiring is already in place.
Building A Home MoCA network Is Simple
Step 1: First you need to inject the Internet signal in to the existing coax cable. Some cable boxes, TIVO DVRs, modems, and routers may already have a MoCA adapter built into them that would allow you to do this. If your device has this, you should see the MoCA logo on the device on the front or back panel. You can also use a stand-alone adapter kit as well if you don't have MoCA built it to an existing device.
Step 2: A separate adapter is needed to transform the signal from coax back to an Ethernet connection at the destination point. This done to with another MoCA adapter.
