Mediacom has the following requirements when selecting a modem. Those with Internet 100, ( a.k.a Ultra) or lower must select a modem that has at least 4 download channels. Those with Internet 200 must have a modem with at least 8 download channels. Confused? Don't be. We have everything outlined below by service tier to make things easy.
Important Information: At the beginning of the year, Mediacom changed it's Internet plan structure. From here on out, the following are the noted service tiers for Mediacom. Internet 60, Internet 100, Internet 200, and Internet 500. The information contained is this page is relevant to that structure.
Mediacom 1-Gig Customers: Requires a modem provided by Mediacom only at this time and must be installed by a service tech.
The following are stand-alone modems. They do not have any built-in wireless or phone functions. Use with a separate router.
A WiFi modem is a two-in-one unit as it combines a modem and router. These are easier to setup for the less tech savvy person, and take up less shelf space.
If you have the Internet 500 plan and phone service, you will have to use a Mediacom provided modem at this time. No retail voice modems are available to support 500Mbps.
